La Cucina Di Rosa

Buongiorno a tutti,
Tiffany here.
I know that we all have, and are very grateful for, the Family Cookbook that lovely Aunt Marie made. Well, I just wanted to publicize the fact that it is now on my blog, which can be linked at the bottom of this blog, or www.unamammaitaliana.blogspot.com. I am trying to popularize it, and it will work in conjunction with my La Voce articles. Please take a look at the latest pics of the cookbook! I look forward to adding much more (including recipes) so please don't be shy and make comments, post ideas, etc.

Grazie.....

Love to all,
Tiffany & family

ladies and Gentlemen:

This past weekend, I had an unfortunate little incident of mishap high up in the mountain forests of Utah while driving an ATV over it's mountanious trails at an elevation in excess of 10,400 feet... While recovering in the Emergency Room of Cedar City Hospital, Utah after being treated, I have declared, like our founding fathers before us, my very own Declaration of Independence.....(smile).......................in the form of the best communication vehicle that I know...............Poetry.......................amdamiano

..................................."A Declaration to the High Mountain Forests of Utah"......................................

My name is Nevada Smith and I ride with the wind.

I have seen your face up close and noticed the indifference..Now I challenge you to the race.

I have declared myself, Prince of the Utah Forest... You see me as an eloper and nullify your face.

Your indifference is deafning in the high mountain winds.. but I know you have acepted my challenge.

I have come to make a statement ...yet you consider me an irrelevancy.

Oh,Yes..........you can hurt me, and you did......but you cannot stop me.

Not now, nor until my days are done.!!

Your sticks and stones may break my bones, but I will not be undone

My Spirit and Determination will not be broken........

Not, by your uncaring mountains

Not, by your treacherous trails

Nor, by your indiffernt forests

And I shall overcome....all which you have to offer.....

Historic Mission Inn

This is a really cool old hotel in Riverside California. It was never really a mission or church, but the guy who built is really liked that style, so you would think it was.

Gary was there for the IT Financial Manager's Association conference at which he gave a speech about how to determine software license requirements.

Graduation Day At LaSalle

Congratulations to Bachelor of Arts Kevin Beary on his graduation from LaSalle University. He really makes the old cap and gown look great, doesn't he?

Philadelphia cooperated with enough filtered sunshine to give everyone a little color including a well defined cap line across Kevin's forehead.

Friends and family were treated to a barbeque feast back at Kevin's house in Manyunk catered by Tommy Gunn's. The deep fried macaroni and cheese was phenomenal, and not even frozen beer kegs were able to put a damper on the celebration.

Birthdays are for Bocce

What a fabulous day Sunday was as we celebrated Angelo's 60th birthday with plenty to eat and drink along with a bocce tournament in his backyard. In addition to the birthday boy, in attendance were Gary, Josie, Paul, Lucy, Nick, Rose, Luigi, Delane, Matthew, Bob, and later Geri.
A good time was had by all, and perhaps Angelo will post some of the pictures that were taken with his new Sony Cybershot camera.

Bill & Marie Hit Vegas

A hearty welcome to Bill and Marie as they make their arrival here in sunny Las Vegas. After an hour's flight delay on Spirit Airlines, which included the opportunity to pay for water and peanuts only by credit card, they were met by Josie and Gary and were spirited off to the Southwest.

My 2nd attempt at Poetry: entitled "Nevada Smith"

Please note, here that whatever you may read, there is no reference to me personally in the writing....There are some factual matters that point to me in the work but there is no direct correlation with me to the fictionalized character... In this piece, "Nevada Smith" is a lonely and tragic figure and I'd like to think that I am as far removed from him as the rest of you are....However, as you all may know from English literature, the beauty and power of poetry is that it allows us all to understand and relate, no matter how far removed or distant from the central character we may think we are...Therefore, without further ado, I bring to you..

-------------------------------- "Nevada Smith"---------------------------------------

My name is Nevada Smith and I ride with the wind.
My horse's name is Corvette2000 and I push a 357 with my friends, Smith and Wesson.
I travel from Town to Town to visit the Ladies of the night.
I drink in dark bars with complete strangers and toast them with a warm drink called loneliness.
I drift from Town to Town and move from place to place, nearly at the speed of light, but I never win the race.
Who wouldn't want to be me and wish to take my place.
Nearly everyone, except all others in this time or space.
My name is Nevada Smith and I blow with the wind.
I travel nearly at the speed of light, but can never get to my place..

Remember the Alamo!

Gary and Josie are heading to San Antonio next week to visit the historic Alamo and the beautiful River Walk. We are staying at the Menger Hotel, a National Historic Landmark. It was established in 1859 and is the oldest continually operating hotel west of the Mississippi, and right across the plaza from the Alamo!

Adult Fable/Poetry.......King of the Jungle--no more...

"King of the Jungle--no more ...(at the Bronx Zoo)"............an adult fable

Grwr-grwr-grr, growled the Lion as the mischievous monkey, precariously perched on the tree limb above, released his urine on the jungle King's head...

Laughing, shrieking and whaling, although frightened inside. The monkey pissed on the Lion and the Lion was pissed to the nine.

What do I do, if the Lion should climb, thought the monkey to himself, this tree that I am now on.

The Lion, being pissed said, this tree I shall climb, to beat that little monkey's ass for good, and one last time.

The monkey, being mischievous yet smart, challenged the Lion to give him a beating, high up in the tree.

The Lion, in haste and without thought, eagerly accepted the challenge-- he barreled up the tree, saying to himself, this little monkey won't be fucking with me---no more.

As the enraged Lion approached the scared little monkey high up in the tree, the King of the Jungle said, little monkey, you have fucked with me, now, for the very last time, because from this point forward, "your ass is mine".

The monkey, now really frightened, realized he had overdone it , pleaded to the Lion for his life and forgiveness.

The Lion, about to strike the monkey with zest and ferocity, heard the limb crackle suddenly and gravity pull him downwardly.

With speed and acceleration never quite seen before, the Lion crashed to the floor.

Now broken and beaten in body and spirit, the King of the jungle-- was king no more..........

The mischievous monkey, although terrorized and frightened, realized he was safe, sound and alive.

For having beaten the King of the jungle, although the monkey got lucky, now thinks himself wise.

Horsemanship of a unique different type...........

Jack,

I rode with Frank Canino for 15 years in Mount Pleasant on the Rockefeller property, now the Rockefeller state preserve, at the John Schrader's stable near the intersection of Route 448 and Bedford Road... We rode with many people and by ourselves during those wonderful riding years and that subject invariably came up when riding with women friends...And by far, those women that seemed truly honest about it would say, Yes, it is indeed very possible to have an orgasm riding horseback especially if you are riding your horse sans saddle or even ,at times, using a thin seated English saddle... However, I'm told it is much harder with a western sadddle unless you're a howwe.....................(smile)...Jack, that last sentence is bullshit but it sure made my funnybone laugh.....................Angelo (I ride with the wind) Damiano...
